Season's Grievings! It's time for the first ever Christmas episode of The Swinging Wake! If anyone wants to know what Zoe wants for Christmas, I would really love a Fraggle Stick Car. Please tell Santa. Besides the latest episode, which is ready to be enjoyed, I've got a couple presents for you. Firstly, a ballad by The King of Terrifying Bullets: And here's a few other random things simply to enjoy: Alright, enough of that. Hopefully you're in the Christmas spirit by now. Enjoy the episode. Check this shit out:
My friend Vince made it for the show. He said he created it by listening to a marathon run of The Swinging Wake and composed as he went, the current playlist at any given moment dictating the direction the image digressed to. Dave McKeane used a similar technique when creating the cover art to Skinny Puppy's "Brap" album, and the result was this:
Anyway, if you would like to use Vince's new artwork to help promote The Swinging Wake, just copy and paste the text below into your myspace or blog or whatever.
Enjoy the show, and I'll see you on Bats Day. |

It's that time of year again. Here's a bonus for those of you who check this site regularly... So just to have all possible bases covered, I'm going to run down the itinerary here for Harry Potter Day at Disneyland, Sunday November 2nd. 9:30am to 11am - Register for the Coin Quest (scavenger hunt) at Plaza Gardens (end of Main Street, left of the Castle). 11am - Gather together at Plaza Gardens, get ready for group picture. 11:30am - Group photo in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle. After picture taken, clues will be given out... GO! 12pm to 7pm - Coin Quest. 7pm - Turn in coins at Plaza Garden. Points tallied, winners announced, prizes distributed. Afterwards: Group Ride! End of the evening: Of-Age Wizards and Witches walk to Downtown Disney for a nightcap of butterbeer or firewhiskey. Rules for the coin quest can be viewed here. I'll see you there.

When I started recording this episode, as my banter will indicate, I anticipated that my haste would result in a less than satisfactory result. After completing it, however, I found that I like it a great deal. We'll attribute this result to my indulging in a what-do-I-have-to-lose assemblage of materials. You're going to hear industrial by Numb, the soundtrack to a robotic lesbian love story, a grisly tale of murder and deceit by Neil Gaiman, and be sent away with a tragic ballad by Mr Marty Robbins. Me? I'm right now on the road, as you can see from the preceding post.
And oh yeah, IT'S OCTOBER, BABY! God I hope this is nothing like last year. If it is, you will find me a sad Zoe until Spring. If it isn't like last year, drinks are on me. |

Hey kids. As you can see, episode 13 is not here yet. I had a plan to get it recorded, but my roommate ended up with a marathon illness, which played itself out on the living room couch for a couple days watching SVU dvds at full volume. So naturally I could not record. Therefore I am putting together the next episode and programming it to publish on the 1st of October. I will not be here at this time, but rather on the road. Violet DeMent and I are taking a road trip up the coast. Stops will include:
Try and behave yourselves until I return. Oh, and I unearthed a special rarity that I'll be throwing your way at the beginning of the next one...

Hello my pets. Episode 12 is now here and ready to eat. Tuck in.
I just added a huge update to my Myspace blog page. It talks about my recent trip to Arizona and dragging spooky friends to a ball game. You can read it here. Other than that, please, enjoy the show, and mark your calendars for November 2nd.
It's coming...

The next episode of The Swinging Wake will appear on or around September 1st. I have not had a chance to record an episode in time for my usual biweekly installment. When the next episode appears I intend to redouble my efforts to publish and popularize this thingamajig.
This will give you all a chance to catch up on an episode you may have missed or skipped over. Or not. It occurs to me, however, that this is my very own dot com, and I can do whatever I want with it, really. So why don't I?
AVADA KEDRAVRA! Moving on. Here's something weird I ran across, that is apparently real: this is how they ride motorcycles on the freeway in India.
Have you ever heard of Failblog dot org? Well, here's a few recent choice selections from this webpage, which I check daily...
I don't know about you, but that's the movie I want to see.
You get the idea. Anyway, go enjoy an archived episode of The Swinging Wake. And don't forget to mark your calendars for this special upcoming day... Harry Potter Day at Disneyland. November 2nd. More later...

Hello everyone. Welcome aboard the eleventh episode. So, yeah. Dark Knight was pretty freaking amazing, huh? A few notes on this installment of SwingingWakeRadio.com Firstly, on an embarrassing note, I make several mentions in this episode of an athlete named Mark Teixeira. I'd only seen his name in print until an hour after I finished recording this thing, so I keep pronouncing it something to the effect of Tex-uh-ree-uh. Not even close. His name is actually pronounced Tuh-shee-ruh. Yeah, I'm a total shinebox on that one. Secondly, I discuss how weird the trailer for the Frank Miller directed "The Spirit" is. And for your reference, here it is:
And just for good measure, here's the Half-Blood Prince teaser. Just for fun.
Okay, get to the listening. Bear in mind I've been trying to fight off a cold, so the Nyquilada cocktails made me kind of loopy. Have a good night. |

This week we revert to something resembling the regular format of the show, the emphasis placed on music. We'll hear Thrill Kill Kult, Necessary Response, Clannad, SPF 1000, Die Form, and several others which I'm keeping a secret.
I'd like to say more, but today is Taco Tuesday, and I'm wasting time here at this computer. So hang on to them hats and glasses, cause this here's the wildest podcast in the wilderness! |

This week on The Swinging Wake, Neil Gaiman brings us "A Study in Emerald." I wouldn't steer you wrong, and neither would Neil (knowingly).
These are the principle players in tonight's intrigue:
Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective. Hobbies: violin, cocaine.
Dr. James Watson. Occupation: pensioner, sidekick.
Professor Moriarty. Arch-Villain. M'wa-ha-ha.
Colonel Sebastian Moran. Also Evil. But Not As Notorious As Moriarty.
Cthulhu. Destroyer of Worlds.
The Great Old Ones. Also Bad News. If you are feeling brave, click on the "POD" icon up above or the "direct download" link below. Both take you to the same foreboding destination. The back alleys and fogbound streets of London await. And they'll be expecting me... I'll see you all a little later... |
